Let’s get to real life examples for a moment. When you go closes shopping, you find retailers selling ton’s of branded products, that they don’t own.

Have you ever wondered, that they sell and not market, while their advertisements and marketing material might contain the affiliate product.

Back to the affiliates online.

In the digital world, we don’t really have to own the product.

We simply have convince the leads we generate that the product is good for their business requirements.

This you can achieve only if you truly understand your readers and customers.

While I mention, Stop Marketing, this only pertains to affiliate products and not your blog.

You still need to focus on marketing your blog to get new readers and clients.

The Top 7 Social Media Marketing Trends That Will Dominate 2014 #SocialMediaMarketing #entrepreneurs #marketerssocial media marketing” width=”300″ height=”167″ />With new social networking platforms appearing from behind every corner, it can be hard to know exactly where to commit your time and resources. And as we move into the latter-half of 2013, it’s important to look ahead to where social networking is going, and how we can get on board.

As I think about the trends in social media so far this year, I’ve compiled a list of my predictions as to where we’re headed as we inch towards 2014.

1. Investment in Social Media Will Become a Necessity, Not a Luxury

While I’d argue that investing time and resources into a social media strategy is most definitely a necessity in 2013, I believe the tipping point in public sentiment from ‘should have’ to ‘must have’ will occur in 2014.

Businesses are already coming to terms with the need to integrate their social media efforts with their content strategy, and are seeing the impact of social media in terms of lead generation, referral traffic, and revenue.

As businesses see these very real and measurable benefits, I believe we’ll see a move away from assigning social media tasks to existing employees, and see even more companies hiring social media strategists or full-time social media managers.

The benefits of social media are many, but they include:

  • Improved social signals (which are a factor in the search ranking algorithm).
  • Company branding
  • Improved brand awareness
  • Word-of-mouth advertising
  • Increased customer loyalty and trust
  • Improved audience reach and influence

Social media is also one of the three pillars of SEO.

2. Google+ Will Become a Major Factor

While Facebook  continues to lead the pack in terms of number of active monthly users (1.15 billion at last count), Google+ is quickly gaining steam, and in fact, now has the second highest number of monthly users (343 million).

With Google using the platform to collect personal information (think demographics, location, etc.), Google+ should no longer be thought of as ‘just’ another social network. It’s increasingly proving itself to be an integral part of Google’s grand scheme in terms of SEO, social signals and providing a more personalized search experience. This is especially apparent with the importance of Google Authorship, which I project will be one of the key components to Google’s search ranking algorithm by the end of 2014.

I believe that businesses who are finding themselves spread thin with their social media efforts will increasingly turn to Google+ as the closest thing we have to a ‘one size fits all’ social network.

As Google+ moves towards even greater integration with other aspects of the web – as they’ve already done with their foray into local search – I think we’ll see its growth skyrocket, both in terms of business and personal use. 3. Image-Centric Networks Will See Huge Success

We’ve seen a consistent trend in 2013 toward sharing through image andvideo, rather than text-based content. Visual content will increasingly become a critical piece of any solid content strategy, and social networking site Pinterest will continue to shed its reputation as a ‘women’s only’ network and become an integral part of retailers’ marketing strategies.

Other image-based social media sites like Slideshare, Tumblr, Path, and Mobli will continue to grow, and businesses will need to become more mindful about the ‘sharability’ factor of photos on their websites and blogs in order to derive significant benefit from their social media content marketing efforts.

negocios digitalesLa tecnología, las plataformas de pagos, el servicio de los proveedores de producto y la logística son los principales escollos que tienen que solventar.  Además de los trámites para crear una empresa, los emprendedores digitales consideran que en su sector es más complicado conseguir financiación y que afrontan dificultades añadidas por falta de preparación del mercado.

Los emprendedores digitales encuentran las mayores dificultades para poner en marcha sus proyectos en la falta de preparación e infraestructura adecuada del mercado, que sigue primando a los negocios tradicionales. A los problemas comunes a todos los proyectos con los trámites y la financiación, suman la tecnología, las plataformas de pagos, el servicio de los proveedores de producto y la logística como los aspectos que mayores problemas generan a la hora de crear un negocio on line. Estas son las principales conclusiones que ha puesto de manifiesto un grupo de emprendedores, alumnos del MIB (Máster en Internet Business).

Los emprendedores definen el mercado como poco maduro para los negocios digitales, lo que añade escollos especiales para crear empresas y, en algunos casos, provoca retrasos en el periodo de lanzamiento y pérdida de ingresos por distintas vías. Las mayores dificultades que señalan son:

Trámites: además de las dificultades que afrontan todos los emprendedores, en el sector digital falta todavía regulación para muchas cuestiones, lo cual añade un elemento de complejidad mayor a este tipo de proyectos.

Financiación: cuando se trata de financiación, los emprendedores del MIB coinciden en señalar que, frente a la cultura que hay en otros países como Estados Unidos, en España los inversores de venture capital actúan ahogando a los emprendedores más que acompañándoles en el proceso, una actitud que añade aún mayores dificultades a las ya habituales a la hora de encontrar financiación. La mayor parte de los proyectos se inician con escaso presupuesto y autofinanciación. Con todas las dificultades que entraña, consideran que resulta más sencillo conseguir capital público de organismos como CDTI o ENISA que acudir a los bancos o inversores privados.

Banca: donde sí incide la banca de forma determinante es en los medios de pago seguros, esenciales para desarrollar un negocio de comercio electrónico, pero los bancos españoles están aún poco preparados para ofrecerles una plataforma (TPV) para el pago on line. En este caso, el problema es la falta de información en las sucursales, que son los interlocutores naturales de las empresas, mientras que son muy escasos los bancos que disponen de una unidad de negocio especializada en el ámbito digital. En el apartado de consejos, en este caso, los fundadores de e-commerce consideran que no se debe depender de un solo proveedor; y que un sistema como PayPal no es la panacea: ofrece buen servicio y seguridad pero es excesivamente caro: sus comisiones pueden llegar al 3,8% frente al 0,8 de los bancos. Por otro lado, el consumidor español prefiere tener un amplio abanico de posibilidades y sistemas como el contra reembolso, complejo en la gestión, que sigue teniendo un impacto importante en las ventas.

Twitter is sometimes seen as an inbox when it is more like a fleeting torrent that streams and screams its content past you. Often never to be seen again. It pushes the “I don’t want to miss out” syndrome.

 

This led to the creation of Twitter tools like Hootsuite that organises Tweets into lists for reading later. The corralling of Tweets into hashtag categories can be an effective way to manage Twitter  that is sometimes seen as similar to the ungainly management that is like herding cats.

 

3 key elements to a tweet

 

There are 3 core elements to a tweet. Get these right and you are on your way to using Twitter well. They may seem simple but they are often poorly executed or ignored.

 

So what do you need to hone, polish and include to make your tweets sing and dance?

 

    1. Headline – tempt the reader to click the link. That’s its job, nothing more nothing less.
    2. Links – It was 4 years ago that I watched a video that said “don’t waste a tweet without a link“. It sort of made sense.
    3. Hashtags – Drive those tweets into Twitter searches and lists that are relevant. It is becoming the glue for social. This is the role of a hashtag.

What are your goals?

 

Stumbling onto Twitter with poor intent can lead to wasted time and effort. You need to have some specific goals in mind.

 

Some goals that are worth considering.

 

  • Do you want to drive more traffic to your blog, website or online store?..So tweet and automate the content but not the conversation.
  • Is it sales you are after? Use tweets with links to landing pages that have something to sell. Or tweet a coupon that can be claimed in-store or via a Facebook page.
  • Are you wanting to connect and engage with influencers, customers and prospects?…Tweet their content, offer to help.

There are more goals than this but bait the Twitter hook, get focused and strategic and maybe those tweets will lead to blogging nirvana.

Last week’s kick-off of the NFL season garnered over 20 million likes, comments, and shares on Facebook by over 8 million people.

Why Marketers Should Explore Facebook Hashtags

Facebook is aiming to grab a piece of the pie of the TV Dollars that brands are spending. Not strange, since TV is often a driver of consumer conversations at the coffee machine or on the social network itself.

So you will probably not be surprised that Facebook has rolled out a series of products aimed at surfacing the public conversations happening on Facebook including hashtags, embedded posts, and trending topics.

Starting this week, selected news organizations can begin to integrate Facebook conversations into their broadcasts or coverage by displaying public posts of real-time activity about any given topic.

For example, CNN’s New Day can now easily incorporate what people on Facebook have to say about the latest, breaking news event during their show.

Partners can also use these tools to show the number of Facebook posts that mention a specific word over a period of time, including a demographic breakdown for the people talking about that topic.

For instance, now every week during the ‘What’s Trending’ segment of The Today Show, NBC can easily include how many people on Facebook talked about a popular subject, where it’s getting the most buzz, whether it’s most popular among males or females, and with which age groups.

Mass Relevance, a technology company that enables social experiences, is also leveraging these new tools in interesting ways to highlight the trends and conversations happening on Facebook for their media clients.

Today Facebook is launching two new tools: the Keyword Insights API and the Public Feed API.

Public Feed API
The Public Feed API displays a real-time feed of public posts for a specific word. Only public posts (from Pages and Profiles of those with ‘Follow’ turned on) are available with this API.

Keyword Insights API
The Keyword Insights API aggregates the total number of posts that mention a specific term in a given time frame. It can also display anonymous, aggregated results based on gender, age and location.

Who has access to these tools?
The current list of partners includes: Buzzfeed, CNN, NBC’s Today Show, BSkyB, Slate. and Mass Relevance.

How do you get them?
These two tools are only available for a small group of trusted Facebook media partners. Facebook is beginning discussions with other media partners and preferred marketing developers (PMD’s) and will make it available to additional partners in the coming weeks.
